The first nine weeks is over and Basketball Season is nearly here.  Anyone that has not already done so needs to have a physical form completed before tryouts begin AND anyone trying out needs to complete the Gfellar-Waller Concussion student-parent sheet completely.  Please be sure to fill out all information and sign all signatures and dates where appropriate.  BOTH forms must be completed, front and back, and turned into their coach on, or before, they tryout for the team.

Where you can get a physical:  The following sites do not require appointments and all have walk in hours (usually the first hour they are open for business).

Beginning this year (2017-2018) all 6th grade students will again be allowed to try out for middle school sports with the exception of football.  No 6th grader will be allowed to play football at the middle school level.  Also, 6th graders may play baseball but they will NOT be allowed to pitch during games.

This Fall 6th graders will be allowed to tryout for:

Boys soccer (tryouts will begin 8/29/2016)
Volleyball (tryouts begin Monday 8/28/2016)

We will send out more information later about winter and spring sports.

What this means is that if your 6th grader would like to try out for a sport this year all parents will need to do the following:

1.  Get a sports physical, completed by both the parent and a physician, and turn it in to their Coach, Coach Bradley, or Coach Wingate before or on the first day of tryouts.
2.  Both the parent and the student must complete the Gfellar-Waller Concussion form and turn it in to their Coach, Coach Bradley, or Coach Wingate before or on the day of tryouts.
3.  If the student does not have either of these papers they will not be allowed to tryout on any tryout date until they do turn them in.

What will the school provide for any student who makes the team?

1.  We provide uniforms for the students to use during the season.  This uniform is to be washed at school only.  It is the schools uniform.  It will be the responsibility of the parent to pay for any lost uniform or equipment.
2.  Depending on the sport your cost will be what you put into it:  The below equipment is required and at your cost....

Volleyball - knee-pads, tennis shoes (NOT basketball shoes) - for practices students will need to bring shorts and t-shirt each day.  Coach Bradley will not allow wildly colored socks during game days.  DO NOT buy any equipment (other than tennis shoes since they need those for PE anyway) until they know if they made the team.

Soccer - soccer cleats, shin guards, socks (we provide the correct ones for $4 a pair).  For practices they will need shorts and t-shirt.  Do NOT buy any equipment until you are sure they've made the team.

Football- cleats.  For practices they will need shorts and t-shirt.

If you have any questions please email either

*Coach Bradley - (volleyball / AD)
*Coach Wingate - (football/AD)
*Jennifer Williams - / or other (boys soccer)
